Red vs Blue. North vs South. Mourinho vs Conte. Lukaku vs Morata.

There were plenty of stories that could easily have taken center stage when Manchester United clashed with Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday, February 25.

The Red Devils came from behind to win 2-1 as Manchester United reclaimed second spot in the Premier League table after goals by Romelu Lukaku and second-half substitute Jesse Lingard cancelled out Willian’s opener.

Chelsea took the lead in the 32nd minute after Willian finished off a brilliant counter-attack with the help of Chelsea’s star man Eden Hazard. The lead only lasted for seven minutes as Hazard’s Belgian compatriot Lukaku fired home the equalizer after being set-up by Anthony Martial in the 39th minute.

Jose Mourinho started with his lethal attacking trio of Martial, Lukaku, and new signing Alexis Sanchez, with all three linking well and making runs off each other deep in Chelsea’s half.

15 minutes left, with the score locked at 1-1, it looked imminent that Mourinho’s side would once again draw at home against another Top-4 opponent. But Lingard’s superb header from Lukaku’s cross gave United the three points in the 75th minute.

For United, this puts them back into second place in the table with 59 points, just two points ahead of Spurs who beat Crystal Palace late on with a Harry Kane goal in the 88th minute. Chelsea are down to sixth, with 53 points.

Next up for United is a trip to Selhurst Park, on Monday, March 5 at 3:00 P.M. EST. Chelsea return to Manchester to face off against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, fresh from a League Cup victory against Arsenal last weekend on Sunday, March 4 at 11:00 am EST.
