MLS Players: Giovanni Dos Santos Most Overrated

Who’s the most overrated player in MLS?

ESPN asked 104 current players in an anonymous poll and found that Los Angeles Galaxy and Mexican international Giovanni Dos Santos was considered by his peers to be the most overrated player in the league.

Check out the complete results here.

Beasley: DC United’s Temporary Venue “Unacceptable”

Former United States international and current Houston Dynamo defender Demarcus Beasley was not happy with DC United’s temporary venue, Maryland SoccerPlex, which was the site of the Dynamo’s 2-2 draw with United on Saturday.

Beasley sounded off on Twitter after a match in which United scored two unanswered goals, to salvage a late point against the Dynamo. Beasley called the facilities at the SoccerPlex “unacceptable.”

United’s brand new stadium, Audi Field, is set to open this Summer and in the meantime, the club has elected to play its home matches at the SoccerPlex rather than play games on the road.

USMNT Interim Manager Sarachan Extends Deal

On Tuesday, USMNT interim manager, Dave Sarachan, informed the Washington Post that the United States Soccer Federation has given him an extension of his contract.

Sarachan’s contract was originally set to expire at the end of March. Now, he will remain in charge of the team through their June friendlies against Ireland and France.

Sarachan and the new look USMNT have an upcoming friendly against Paraguay at Wakemed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.

Liverpool to Reject All Summer Bids For Salah

And, finally, here’s something to ease our Merseyside readers and writers, too (breathe easy Cal and Noah). Liverpool Football Club says it will not sell star player Mohammed Salah “under any circumstances” this Summer.

The Egyptian has netted 36 times for the Reds and has been in fine form for Liverpool this season, leading to speculation that European super-clubs FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will come calling in the Summer.

However, The Telegraph is reporting that Liverpool will “rebuff any approaches” for Salah, especially after losing midfield ace Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona back in January.

Liverpool is set to host the first leg of the upcoming UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals against league rival Manchester City on Wednesday, April 4.

Thanks for reading Wednesday’s News Roundup. Check back here, on Friday morning, for the latest happening in The Beautiful Game. Cheers.
