Christian Pulisic Named US Soccer’s Male Player of the Year

On Thursday, Christian Pulisic, the Borussia Dortmund and United States midfielder, was voted US Soccer’s Male Player of the Year. The Hershey native received an overwhelming majority of the votes with 94 percent.

At 19 years of age, Pulisic is the youngest player since Landon Donovan to win the award. Donovan was 21 when he received that recognition in 2003.

Pulisic had this to say this, in a social media post:

“It’s something I never could have imagined, to be here in this position and I’m just really thankful to everyone who supported me along the way and I’m excited for the future.”

MLS Board of Governors Approves New Miami Beckham United Composition 

On Thursday, the MLS Board of Governors approved the new composition of the David Beckham led Miami Beckham United ownership group, which is working to bring an expansion team to Miami.

Votes to give the group the green light to acquire a MLS franchise stopped short. A further vote is expected to come up in the coming months.

It has been nearly four years since David Beckham first announced, in February 2014, that he was interested in acquiring a franchise.

English FA Asks Jose Mourinho to Explain Pre-Match Comments

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has until 6:00 PM on Dec. 18 to provide the English Football Association with comments he made ahead of last week’s match versus rival Manchester City. The FA did not specify which comments were particularly of interest.

Both clubs have already been asked by the FA to provide their observations of the tunnel bust-up that occurred, following City’s 2-1 derby win.

Arsene Wenger: Ozil Not Moving to United in January

Germany and Arsenal playmaker, Mesut Ozil, will not transfer to the Red Devils in January, according to club boss Arsene Wenger. 

In a news conference held Friday, Wenger vowed to hold on to all his current players in the upcoming transfer window. The Frenchman added that he will still entertain offers.
