March 5th, 2017: a historic day for the Club.
Jim Curtin has named young midfielder Derrick Jones to tonight’s starting XI. Jones becomes the first player to rise from the ranks of Philadelphia Union’s youth academy, to the first-team and now starting XI.
Curtin has been high on Jones throughout the preseason saying, “There’s not young and old, there’s only good and bad.”
Jones will start alongside Bosnian Haris Medunjanin, who will make his league debut for the Club.
Congratulations, Derrick. One of our own.
